About Jim

Jim Norton is a husband, father, and conservative leader who has spent his career serving his community. A fourth-generation Gulf County resident, Norton has deep roots in the Florida Panhandle and a reputation for delivering results and strong, steady leadership.

 

Before becoming superintendent, Norton built a successful career in banking and business. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Officer at Vision Bank and as Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development at Coastal Community Bank.

 

Appointed by then-Governor Rick Scott, Norton has served as Superintendent of Gulf County Schools for the past 15 years. Throughout his tenure, he has earned a reputation for disciplined management, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to our conservative principles.

 

Norton earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from Troy State University and later received his law degree from the Faulkner University Jones School of Law. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar.

 

He has also been actively involved in civic life, serving as past president of the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce and the Port St. Joe Lions Club. He lives in Port St. Joe with his wife, Erika, and their two sons, James and John.
